Move over, Gert Boyle (Columbia Sportswear’s version of one tough mother)! Whether you agree with Sarah Palin’s political stance or not, she gave one incredible speech last night…proving she is way overqualified to be just another snack shack mom.
And if you think that being a hockey mom doesn’t count as experience in the world of politics, then you haven’t experienced the politics of youth sports. After all, how did Little League get its reputation? How many kids have dropped out of organized sports because of “the politics?” Have you ever had to stand up to the ridiculous accusations of parents who take youth sports too seriously?
From personal family experience, I know that a coach of a winning team becomes a target just for being on top. Horrible things are said about coaches who know how to win, while no one attacks the losing coaches. What an interesting parallel this is to what is happening in the media with their treatment of Sarah Palin.
It’s time to celebrate the accomplishments of one of our own! You go, Hockey Mom!

Thanks for stopping by my blog. I agree with your post. Just being a mom gives a woman enough experiences to handle lots of tough things. It’s “real”world experience.
God Bless

Good heavens that’s the most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen. This woman is against freedom of choice, thinks she has foreign policy experience because she can “see Russia” from Alaska, is against abortion yet cut funding for help for pregnant teen moms who wanted to keep their baby, makes rape victims pay for the rape testing kits that are used by law enforcement, went to work three days after having a Down’s Syndrome baby, pushes abstinence while her own teen daughter gets pregnant, hires only her high school buddies for jobs in the state, fired someone because he refused to fire her brother-in-law and more. Wow, you are really out of touch with what sports moms want. Oh, and did I mention she is a holy roller who wants and believes that the world will come to an end during her lifetime and that her husband believes Alaska should suceed from the Union?
Wow, just wow.

Well, now that I’ve read this drivel, I’ll be boycotting Columbia.
Sarah Palin isn’t worthy of a moment of my thought.

Furthermore, Palin represents everything there is to hate about youth sports….all about her….all about the parents rather than the kids. After all, what caring mother would go back to work three days after having a special needs baby? What caring mother would have their water break in Texas, then go give a lecture, then take 11 hours of flights and a 45 minute drive to go to Wasilla to give birth when there are top notch hospitals in Texas? She endangered not only herself but her unborn baby by doing that, not to mention the passengers on the planes she had to take to get there. What kind of caring mother would preach and preach and insist on “abstinence only” sex education in the schools, then be completely unaware that her own daughter was having sex and getting pregnant?
This woman in no way represents the ideal sports mom and I’m shocked that you’d want to be associated with her.

Go hockey moms! Go sport moms! Go moms!
Thanks for finding me today and leaving a comment, such a small world! I lived in L.O. my entire life until just the past 10 years or so. My daughter goes to school in L.O. so we still hang out around town and at the library quite a bit!
Blessings,
Melissa

Boycott Columbia Sportswear? Now that’s the kind of illogical strategy I’ve never understood. What purpose would that serve? My thoughts when I see people react like this: Get a life!
Whether you agree with Sarah Palin or not, if you can’t be inspired by her story, you are pretty closed-minded. Your “filter,” as we call it in our communications education, is coloring your view.
